Viktor Rekal's Suite for Solo Cello “Seven Simple Dawns” is a significant contribution to the contemporary Ukrainian chamber-instrumental repertoire and an example of rethinking the genre tradition of the suite in the context of the 21st century. The work combines late Romantic stylistics with contemporary compositional techniques—pointillism, aleatoric music, onomatopoeia, and polystylistic techniques—that form a complex dramaturgical and semantic structure.
